tannin
Used in medicine for their astringent properties, tannins are soluble vegetable compounds consisting of gallic acid or pyrocatechin glucosides. Tea is also rich in these polyphenols.
temper
Tempering is a treatment in widespread use for a number of materials such as metals, metal alloys or glass; the materials are heated to high temperature and then rapidly cooled. This process gives the materials new properties, such as increased hardness in the case of steel, or greater strength for glass.
Tempered Glass
Glass which has undergone a tempering treatment: it has been heated to high temperatures and then cooled rapidly. This process gives the glass high impact strength and makes it particularly hard.
