perennial plants
Plants which live for more than two years, like some herbaceous plants with an underground stem structure, or trees and shrubs.
ply
Each of the thin sheets of wood which make up a plywood board.
plywood
Boards made from several thin sheets of wood (known as plies), generally of an uneven number, with the fibres running at right-angles to each other, glued together with thermoset synthetic resins and then hot pressed. A board is described as plywood when it consists of at least three plies
Polyacrylate
(chem.) polyacrylic acid salt or polymer of an ester: methyl, butyl, etc. polyacrylate, acrylic resins.
polymer laminate
Polymer laminate consists of a wooden particle board with its surface finished with a varying thickness of synthetic material or PVC, which gives the board an attractive appearance and high resistance to liquids and impacts. It costs a little more than laminate. Polymer laminates belong to a group of coated laminates, which have an additional covering layer increasing their resistance to liquids, impacts and scratches. The other types of door finish are: melamine when the panel is finished with decorative paper impregnated with melamine resin. Phenol: finished with paper impregnated with phenol resin.
postforming
Refers to a laminate applied to an unevenly shaped substrate. One typical example is the machine-edging of a board.
protein
(biol.) organic substance with a complex structure, consisting of long amino-acid chains bonded together in different ways; the fundamental constituent of animal tissues.
