COLOURED BUT IRIDESCENT GLASS

What are the trends for Autumn 2003 and Winter 2004?

The first trend to emerge in accessories for the table and the home involves precious items, decorated with gold and silver leaf, to provide a shiny, glittering or often pearly final effect. Iridescent effects are centre stage for the coming Autumn and Winter, as illustrated by the beautiful centrepiece plates by VidiVė, which combine platinum and gold in liquid form to create an extremely bright, modern, youthful result.

However, "optical" effects have also attracted the attention of designers and producers. Curvy, fat-bellied vases that play around with two-coloured geometrical and concentric circles, rather like the plates with red and black decoration that recall the shape of an endless spiral.

A longing to be here and elsewhere. For a city room that is both tidy and wild. For a change in the weather, a breath of madness in the wind. For a trip in a hot-air balloon and colourful horizons. For the pleasure of a party and good times together. For objects with marvellous colours that tell stories of people, homes, dreams and passions. This is the story told by IVV in its Autumn-Winter 2003-2004 collection.

But alongside the figured, decorated glass, clear glass and lacquers there are also fine porcelain, of the kind offered by Pagnossin with Manifattura di Laveno. The sets consist of fine porcelain, bone china and pottery. In spite of their extremely classical material, the plates have a very modern shape, flat and square or round, like the Forma Sirio collection which is decorated with flowers and butterflies on a white background.
