A collection of music to listen to while surfing or cooking. Music for cooking, listening or just relaxing.
The summer is here and the
desire to escape the city as temperatures shoot through the roof becomes unbearable.
If you are one of the lucky ones to own a second home by the
sea, in the mountains or in the countryside,
this is how you can furnish and organise the kitchen environment to help you
rest and relax during your stay.
Keyword: practicality!
The first thing
to consider is that most of the time you spend here is probably outdoors.
This is precisely why the only room worthy of special attention in
designing and furnishing is the one you will
be using the most: the kitchen.
This environment must be a highly practical living environment
that demands the least of you!
Better to go for low maintenance accessories and surfaces then,
like the ones we can show you here in this special article.
An open-space environment or large kitchen table can prove
very practical, allowing you to cook in company of your guests who never fail
to materialise during a holiday.
Three pieces of useful advice
The most suitable floor surfaces are cold ones (like stone, tiles, terracotta, etc.) because a holiday home is mainly used in the summer when pleasantly cool flooring is just perfect.
In terms of crockery and cutlery, our advice is to buy double so that you can leave them there permanently, without having to carry heavy boxes to and fro each time. And on this, better still if they are relatively cheap, particularly if you are considering renting the house out when it is empty.
If the house is in an isolated position, it is always best to have a good refrigerator and large freezer in which to keep stores.
A question of style
As concerns the style, choose from materials and colours that will help you relax, such as soft shades and natural surfaces.
A second idea may be to opt for accessories that match the specific atmosphere of the area: if your home is by the sea, why not go for neutral, luminous colours like white (photograph to the left)? Perhaps combined with fun accessories recalling the animals and plants of the sea.
If, on the other hand, your home is in the countryside, go for true country style (like the kitchen to the right), combined with sunny colours for the walls.
And if you are looking for other special hints, here’s how to personalise the style of your holiday home.
