Digital catalogues and pdfs of the top kitchens and appliances.
A collection of music to listen to while surfing or cooking. Music for cooking, listening or just relaxing.
A television in the kitchen lets you follow your favorite
program while cooking, or eat a meal while
watching a good movie.
There are different ways to place a TV
in a kitchen; here are some important guidelines
for positioning it in the best way.
Ideas for placing it
In many kitchen
designs today there are innovative cabinets
that you can use for housing a television.
These designs, coordinated with the rest of
the kitchen are perfect for open space kitchen-living rooms
or if you have a very large room.
In the photo on the right, open shelves provide an ample
central space for a TV, or a stereo or a DVD player for that matter.
The glass door with a push-pull
opening mechanism protects the instruments
when not being used.
Another idea for those who don't want a free standing television set is offered
by Rex Electrolux (photo, left)
which has introduced a built-in LCD TV into
it's product range. Equipped with a stainless steel frame it
effectively resolves problems of space and stylistic coordination
with other appliances.
Some guidelines
Whatever type of television
you may have, you will have to avoid bright
reflections: don't place the TV in front of a window, especially
if the window faces south and is brightly illuminated by the sun or other sources
of artificial light.
A lamp beside or above the television is recommended
if you think you'll be watching your favorite shows
in the dark sometimes, like after dinner. A diffuse light will help
save your eyes from fatigue.
If you have a plasma or LCD television you
can and should remember some things that you could ignore with traditional televisions.
The main advantage is that these kinds of TVs can be
hung on the wall in any part of the kitchen.
And yet LCD TV screens can be seen well only from a narrow
range of positions in front of the screen, so to see a perfect
quality image, viewers must sit
as much as possible directly in front of the screen. In the
above example the television is mounted perpendicular to the island so that
whoever sits at the table can enjoy a straight ahead view.
